About the Brewery
Nichinchi Jozo is a newly born brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto—a place long lined with breweries. Led by the renowned master brewer Hidehiko Matsumoto, a small, elite team takes on the challenge of brewing.
Nichinchi Jozo comprises an old kura with traditional plaster walls and timber framing, and a newly built modern-looking kura constructed for our founding. The old kura is a roughly 150-year-old brewery building originally in Fushimi that was purchased and relocated. Inside is a spacious, atmospheric space steeped in history. Brewing is not currently conducted in the old kura, but many plans lie ahead. The brand-new kura is filled with an indescribable freshness that heralds the start of brewing here.
