Wakanami Shuzo, located in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, was founded in 1922. Named after the flow of the nearby Chikugo River, its flagship label Wakanami embodies the theme “the pushing wave of flavor, the pulling wave of aftertaste.” Led by Ms. Yuka Imamura, Fukuoka’s only female toji, and supported by team members certified as official sake tasting evaluators, the brewery emphasizes meticulous care from rice washing to pressing. Limiting production to just two tanks a week ensures that each batch receives the utmost attention, creating sake with balance, elegance, and food-friendly character. Through uncompromising cleanliness, precision, and rigorous tasting standards, Wakanami Shuzo delivers sake that drinkers can truly trust.
