About the Brewery

Yumegokoro Sake Brewery, founded in 1877 in Kitakata, Fukushima Prefecture, produces the Yumegokoro and Naraman brands. Guided by the philosophy of creating “sake that is always different, yet always unchanged,” the brewery strives to express the terroir of Kitakata. Around 80% of its rice is grown locally, while all Junmai-grade and higher sake is made with Aizu-grown Gohyakumangoku cultivated with reduced pesticide use by contracted farmers. The brewery combines this rice with mountain stream water from the Tsugamine area of Atsushio, Kitakata, and Utsukushima Yume Yeast developed in Fukushima. Its commitment to local ingredients has earned it three consecutive Gold Awards at the Annual Japan Sake Awards using Gohyakumangoku, as it continues to create sake that could only come from Kitakata.
