Abekan Shuzo

Abekan Shuzo is a long-established brewery in Shiogama, Miyagi, founded in 1716 as the official brewer of sacred sake for Shiogama Shrine. Rooted in a town that flourished as the shrine’s gate town, the brewery continues to produce ceremonial sake and dedicate newly brewed sake to the shrine. Using primarily Miyagi-grown rice and adhering to meticulous small-batch brewing, Abekan pursues sake with both umami and a clean finish, designed above all as food-friendly sake. In particular, it values a style that complements the fresh seafood of Shiogama, a town renowned for sushi, and continues to craft sake that naturally accompanies the local food culture and invites another sip.
