Kamikawa Taisetsu Shuzo

Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery operates two distinctive breweries in Hokkaido: Hekiun Gura in Tokachi–Obihiro and Ryokkyu Gura at the foot of the Daisetsuzan Mountains in Kamikawa. As a “regional revitalization brewery,” it expresses the character of Hokkaido’s terroir through close collaboration with Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and ongoing brewer cultivation. Using pristine natural water from the Daisetsuzan and Satsunai river systems and premium local sake rice such as Suisei, Ginpu, and Kita-Shizuku, the brewery works hand-in-hand with trusted farmers to draw out the full potential of its ingredients. Eschewing large-scale production, it embraces small-batch, handcrafted brewing to create approachable, quietly compelling sake—known locally as nomasaru, meaning “so easy to drink, you can’t help but keep sipping.” Rooted in the community, Kamikawa Taisetsu continues to craft sake that is loved locally and shared with the future.
