About the Brewery
Flanked by Mount Mankichiyama to the north and Mount Yahazudake and Mount Kurodake to the south, the Osuzuyama massif is one of Miyazaki’s prominent mountain regions. Its main ridge is Osuzuyama at 1,405.2 meters. With annual rainfall said to reach 3,000 mm and more than 30 waterfalls including Yatome Falls, the area is famed for its abundant water. As the old saying goes worldwide, ‘Brewing begins with water.’ In pursuit of excellent water, we arrived here at Osuzuyama.
Established in 1998 as a separate brewery of Kuroki Honten, Osuzuyama Distillery stands amid cedar, cypress, beech, maple, mizunara oak, and more—where birdsong and clear streams surround us—and we brew in harmony with nature. ‘Made only here. We make only what can be made here.’ That is the uncompromising spirit behind Osuzuyama’s distilled spirits.
