About the Brewery
Takagi Shuzo was founded in 1884 (Meiji 17) and is now run by the sixth generation, preserving tradition. Making the most of the rich natural setting and pristine water of Akaoka in Tosa, we brew our flagship label Toyonoume. Since our founder Kumataro Takagi introduced Kikumusume to the world, we have walked alongside the flavors of our region; after the war we revived with Rakuo Toyonoume. Loved as a sake of Tosa together with local festival culture like the ‘Dorome Festival,’ we are a historic brewery that protects tradition while continuing to take on new brewing challenges.
