Shochu

About the Brewery

Genkai Sake Brewery is a sake brewery that inherits the tradition of Iki shochu, founded in 1900 by the founder Tamesaburo Yamauchi. The brand name ``Iki'' is named after Iki Island, known as the birthplace of barley shochu, and symbolizes the pride of the region. Using a manufacturing method that uses 2/3 barley and 1/3 rice malt, we produce shochu with a rich barley aroma and natural sweetness derived from rice.

While respecting tradition, the company is also creative and uses tank, turtle, and oak barrel aging methods to offer a wide variety of flavors. Our representative brand, ``Iki,'' has received the Monde Selection's Excellent Quality Award for 11 years in a row, and the ``Crystal Prestige Trophy'' in 2011. It has received high praise both domestically and internationally.

Since its founding, Genkai Sake Brewery has continued to innovate while preserving quality and tradition, reflecting the local nature and culture in its shochu. We will continue to promote the appeal of Iki shochu along with the clean underground water nurtured by the basalt layers of Iki Island.
