About the Brewery

Ohishi Sake Brewery, located at the upper reaches of the Kuma River in Kumamoto Prefecture, is a long-established brewery that was founded in 1872 (Meiji 5) and mainly produces rice shochu. Major brands include the long-term amber-aged sake ``Oishi'', the locally popular ``Kitosu'', and the gorgeous and sweet ``Reisena'', which uses the new yeast ``KF7''. Using carefully selected rice from our own farms and contract cultivation, we strive to produce safe and secure shochu. The long-term aged shochu is aged in approximately 1,200 barrels and finished using a unique blending technique. While cherishing old-fashioned techniques, we also incorporate new experiments.
