About the Brewery

Kikaijima Sake Brewery was founded in 1916 (Taisho 5) as Ishikawa Sake Brewery in Akarenchi by a female brewer, Sumiko Ishikawa, and is currently operating inheriting that tradition. The brown sugar shochu from the same brewery is a specialty product produced on five islands in the Amami archipelago in Kagoshima Prefecture. With the idea of spreading brown sugar shochu produced from the unique environment of Kikaijima to the world, we have created the representative brand ``Kikaijima.'' was born.

Based on the concept of "sake of joy nurtured by the island of joy," we aim to make sake that is close to life's joyful moments. We use unprocessed sake that has been stored for at least one year and are particular about traditional atmospheric distillation. As a result, it has a rich and deep flavor, and its quality has been highly praised, including winning the Monde Selection Gold Award and the National Liquor Competition Grand Prize. We are actively expanding our sales channels both domestically and internationally, and continue to take on the challenge of delivering Kikaijima's brown sugar shochu to the world.
