About the Brewery
Hakubotan Sake Brewery was founded in 1675 by Harumasa Shima Rokurobei under the trade name "Katoya" and has carved out a history dedicated to the sake brewing industry. Harumasa Rokurobei is the grandson of Sengoku warlord Katstakeshi Shima Sakon, making him the fourth generation of the Shima family, and the current president is the fifteenth generation. Aiming for our guiding principle since our founding: ``White Peony with a difference in taste,'' we have continued to maintain an emphasis on quality, and have won awards at many competitions.
