About the Brewery
Tsurumi Sake Brewery has its origins in 1873, when the first generation, Mr. Sadazo, switched from a dyeing business to start a sake brewing business. By preserving the traditional manufacturing methods handed down in the Tsushima region and incorporating modern quality control, we strive to develop full-bodied sake that brings out the flavor of rice.
Owari Tsushima has prospered as a key point in the Kiso Three Rivers since the Kamakura period, and was a commercial capital known as ``Nobunaga's kitchen'' during the Sengoku period. The Owari Tsushima Tenno Festival, which is said to have been loved by Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, is now an important intangible folk cultural property. This region has abundant water resources, and sake brewing has flourished since ancient times, centered around Tsushima Shrine, and Tsurumi Sake Brewery is a brewery that continues this tradition.
