About the Brewery

Nagai Sake Brewery has been brewing sake in Kawaba Village, Gunma Prefecture in a rich natural environment since its founding in 1899. The history begins when the first generation Mr. Shoji Nagai fell in love with the pure natural water of Mt. Buson in Joshu and started brewing sake here. Since our founding, we have placed great importance on ``passing on the nature and culture of Kawaba Village to the next generation through sake brewing''. In 1992, we launched our main brand, Mizubasho, and have continued to innovate in sake brewing while maintaining thorough quality control.
In 1994, we completed a new brewery, Mizubashozo, and sought to further improve quality by combining traditional techniques and modern equipment. Furthermore, aiming to achieve world-class standards, we incorporated technology from the Champagne region of France, and in 2008 we announced ``MIZUBASHO PURE,'' a secondary fermentation method in the bottle. We have opened up new possibilities for sake.
As an extension of this initiative, we developed "Vintage Sake" in 2013 and "Dessert Sake" in 2014, providing new value for rice sake. We are working hard to spread the word "NAGAI STYLE" to the world and develop sake culture.
