Chichibu Wine has inherited the aspirations of its founder, Gensaku Asami, and has continued to take on new challenges while preserving tradition. The commitment and passion we have had since our founding has not changed, and today we continue to strive to improve quality and aim to grow while expressing our gratitude to our many customers and local residents. The wine grown in Chichibu is carefully finished, paying close attention to everything from grape cultivation to winemaking, in order to bring out the uniqueness and flavor of the area. Its history began in 1938, when Gensaku Asami took on the challenge of making wine with the belief of ``creating wine suitable for this region.'' After obtaining a manufacturing license in 1940 and overcoming difficult times, in 1959 a French priest praised the wine as ``the taste of Bordeaux,'' which led to its reputation and its popularity among wine lovers. Supported by the people and nature of Chichibu, Gensaku Asami's passion continues to be passed down to this day.
