About the Brewery
Kuzumaki Wine began in 1979 in Kuzumaki Town, Iwate Prefecture, when then-mayor Gintaro Takahashi proposed that ``let's make wine with wild grapes to revitalize the region.'' At the time, the townspeople knew little about winemaking and wine culture, but the town sent employees to Tokyo to learn about grape cultivation and winemaking, and through trial and error, the winery was established. I did. Since then, through trial and error and efforts to improve quality, Kuzumaki Wine has grown over a quarter of a century with the support of many people, and has become part of the town's third sector. The wine is made using the acidity of high-quality mountain grapes from northern Iwate Prefecture, and is a popular regional specialty.
