Matsuzaki Sake Brewery, which brews Hirotogawa, is a sake brewery aiming for future growth. The 6th generation master brewer, Yuki Matsuzaki, faced a series of trials when he embarked on his journey. Although the warehouse building was damaged during the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, the products were safe. However, the brewer, who had supported the brewery for many years, fell ill, and Mr. Matsuzaki suddenly assumed the heavy responsibility of sake brewing.
After the earthquake, he learned techniques at the Sake Academy in Fukushima Prefecture, and while working hard with fellow brewers of the same generation, he has been exploring the importance of not only sake brewing but also connections with people. This journey has been made possible by the warm support of the sake brewing industry, employees, people who love Hiroto River, and the local community.
Mr. Matsuzaki says, ``I want to make the people who have supported me happy with the sake I brew,'' and aims to create sake that is close to people's lives. Hirotogawa is building a new future as a brewery that continues to grow from failure and continues to take on challenges.
