About the Brewery
Banjou Jozo is a long-established sake brewery founded in 1647 and based in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. Under the 15th generation of the brewery, Mr. Kuheiji Kuno, the brewery focuses on producing sake and wine, as well as cultivating sake rice, and upholds the philosophy of "direct connection between rice fields and storehouses." The brewery's representative brand, ``Joshijin Kuheiji,'' pursues quality and innovation in order to shine a new light on Japanese sake, and has received high praise both domestically and internationally.
While valuing the basics of sake brewing, we continue to take on international challenges, such as winemaking in the Burgundy region of France and cultivation of sake rice locally. ``Domaine Kuheiji'' and ``Born in Camargue,'' which were born from this activity, show new possibilities for sake and wine.
In addition, they own their own rice fields in Kurodashō, Hyogo Prefecture, and work on growing rice that takes advantage of the local natural environment, while also establishing a new brewery, Domaine Kurodashō, to brew sake from rice fields. It is attracting attention as a sake brewery that respects tradition while continuing to innovate toward the future.
