Oimatsu Shuzo
Shochu
About the Brewery
Located in Hita, Oita—called Suikyo Hita (the Water Capital)—near the Oita–Fukuoka border and surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Kyushu, the area once flourished as shogunate territory and is known as ‘Little Kyoto of Kyushu’ for its distinctive culture and industries.
Oimatsu was founded here in 1789 (Kansei 1), making us a brewery with deep history. We began as a brewery dedicated to sake. Around 1970 we also started producing shochu, and today we devote significant effort to making a wide variety of liqueurs using specialty fruits from Oita and our local area, led by plum liqueur.
