About the Brewery
In 1996, Amami Oshima Kaiun Sake Brewery took over a small brewery with no successor, moved it to Uken Village in the Amami Islands, and began efforts to revitalize the village. The following year, in 1997, it featured a blue bottle inspired by the sea and sky of Amami and a unique technology of acoustic aging, contributing to job creation in depopulated areas.
At the beginning of our founding, we went through a lot of trial and error in product development and sales, and with the help of many people, we were able to improve quality and expand sales channels. As a result, the innovative brown sugar shochu ``Rent'' was born, and has received high praise both domestically and internationally. Currently, 60 staff members are working together at the Ukenmura factory, devoting all their efforts to making brown sugar shochu, and paving the way for the future along with the development of the local area.
