About the Brewery
Kokubu Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. is located in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and produces sweet potato shochu using locally produced sweet potatoes and rice as raw materials and underground water from the Kirishima Mountains pumped from about 100 meters underground. In 1970, the Kajiki Sake Brewery Cooperative Association was established by 10 shochu manufacturers in Kagoshima Prefecture. Later, in 1986, six companies with a single manufacturing license established the Kokubu Sake Brewing Cooperative Association, and began selling Satsuma Kokubu.
Innovative initiatives include the development of the industry's first shochu made from 100% sweet potatoes that does not use rice koji, ``Imo Koji Imo,'' and efforts to revive the extinct Taisho era variety ``Tsuruma Genji'' from 10 seedlings. It is characterized by its shochu making. Furthermore, we are promoting shochu culture by developing unique brands such as ``Yasuda''.
We are also committed to contributing to the local community, donating 1 yen for every 1 sho bottle sold, and we continue to grow as a company that balances innovation and social contribution while preserving tradition.
