About the Brewery
Yamato Zakura Sake Brewery is a shochu brewery located in Ichikiminato, Ichikikushikino City, Kagoshima Prefecture. This area is blessed with rich nature, history, and culture, and the area is surrounded by the East China Sea and mountains, providing the perfect environment for making shochu with its clean groundwater and mild climate. Ichikikushikino City is located at the northern end of Fukiagehama, one of Japan's three largest sand dunes, and once prospered as a post town and commercial area, and is also an area where shochu culture took root.
This area is also known as the birthplace of fish cakes, locally known as ``tsukeage,'' and is home to six shochu breweries, and the shochu culture is so thriving that Japan's first ``shochu toast ordinance'' was enacted. Yamatozakura Sake Brewery will continue to carefully make shochu while inheriting the history and traditions of the region, while valuing the everyday life.
