About the Brewery
The origins of Biwako Winery date back to the time when the founder, Keizo Ota, cultivated the mountain forest that he inherited from the Kunimiya family. In 1959, we obtained a fruit wine production license and have continued to make wine ever since. In 2012, a modern winery designed and constructed by Kajima Corporation was completed. Currently, we are developing the Asagarano brand, a single-varietal wine made 100% from our own vineyards, and the Biwako brand, which is a blend of foreign grapes with our own wine as the main ingredient. Since our founding, we have continued to uphold the historic tradition of sake brewing.
