About the Brewery

Morita Koshu Winery was established in 1973 in Katsunuma, Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, carrying on the dream of Kyuzaemon, the 11th generation of the Morita family, who started grape cultivation in Aichi Prefecture in 1881. The winery is called "Shanmoli Wine" and is working to improve the quality and popularize Japanese wine, mainly from Koshu.

Using historic brewing techniques and innovations, numerous wines such as ``Champori Barrel Aged Koshu'' and ``Grand Champori Koshu Sur Lie'' have won gold medals at domestic and international competitions. The ``Koshu'' variety in particular has received worldwide recognition, including being the first in Japan to win a global gold medal.

The winery continues to make wine that takes advantage of Katsunuma's climate, and has a restaurant called ``French Table Shanmori.'' We are opening up new possibilities for Japanese wine while promoting the charm of the local area.
