About the Brewery

Soryu Wine was founded in 1899 and is one of Katsunuma's traditional wineries with a history of over 100 years. The founder introduced authentic winemaking techniques from France and is a relative of Masanori Takano and Ryunori Tsuchiya, pioneers of Japanese winemaking. The company name ``Soryu'' comes from the guardian deity that protects the eastern part of China, and is also said to be a god that brings happiness. Currently, young winemakers are striving to create their own ideal wines while inheriting the tradition. In 2010, “Katsunuma no Koshu Barrel Aged 2009” won the gold medal and the top prize in the category for “Citrus Scent Koshu 2010” in 2011, and in 2013, “Citrus Scent Koshu 2012” and “Traditional Rich Taste Koshu 2012” ” has received solid praise, including winning a double gold award. We will continue to cherish tradition and innovation and work hard to deliver wonderful wine to everyone.
