About the Brewery
Rubaiyat Wine began as a small brewery established in the garden of his home by Jisaku Omura in 1891. Since then, four generations have poured their passion into winemaking with the philosophy of delivering "authentic deliciousness." Even in the heyday of sweetness, we are particular about dryness, and pursue the production of wines that represent Japan, making use of traditional varieties such as Koshu, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Chardonnay.
In 2020, Koshu City was certified as a Japanese Heritage site for its 140-year history of Japanese wine, and the Marufuji Winery facility was also selected as a constituent cultural property. In addition, the former brewery building and concrete tanks have been designated as registered tangible cultural properties, contributing to the development of wine culture for the future while preserving local traditions.
