About the Brewery
Suzumi no Oka Winery produces wine using wild grapes grown in Noda Village, Iwate Prefecture. Noda Village has a long history of wild grapes being said to be good for nutrition and tonicity, and being used by women before and after giving birth. The cool breeze called ``Yamase'', which is unique to this region, allows the fruit to ripen slowly, resulting in the cultivation of wild grapes that are rich in the power of nature.
The winery uses wild grapes grown in the local clean air, water, and soil to produce wine with a deep purple color, jam-like fruit flavor, and firm acidity. As it ages further, the acidity melds and the taste becomes smooth and easy to drink. Established as part of the earthquake recovery effort, this winery is also contributing to the revitalization of the region.
