About the Brewery
Winery Konohana is a locally-based brewery established in 2010 in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture. We are working to develop high value-added wines that are unique to the region, using wild grape hybrids grown in the local Kosaka town as our main ingredient. By using locally grown grapes, we reduce transportation costs and improve quality by optimizing harvesting. We are also focusing on developing new products that would not have been possible through outsourcing, and creating culture through the fusion of wine and local food.
The brewery, which was established on the site of a former pachinko parlor, is equipped with a glass tank room that allows visitors to see inside. It is also a popular place for tourists and local residents to have fun. In 2013, they started growing grapes in their own fields, and are currently trying to make wine with new varieties that are unique to Akita. We aim to bring wine born and raised in Akita to Japanese dining tables.
