Hakkenzan Sapporo Ji-wine Kenkyūjo

Hakkenzan Sapporo Wine Research Institute is located 30 to 40 minutes by car from downtown Sapporo and produces wine in an area surrounded by rich nature. Fruit cultivation has been popular in the Hakkenzan area for a long time, and grape cultivation began on a trial basis in 2008. Hakkenzan Winery was established in 2011 and aims to commercialize Sapporo local wine. The area around the winery is gravelly soil formed by volcanic activity, which is suitable for growing grapes, and more than 25 grape varieties are currently being cultivated on a trial basis. We also work on eco-friendly facilities that make use of local groundwater and research on the selection of local yeast, in pursuit of the unique taste of wine in the region. We strive to produce high-quality wine that takes advantage of local characteristics.
