The Japan Wine Agriculture Research Institute "JW-ARC" was named "ARC-EN-VIGNE", with "ARC" meaning "connecting people through wine". The name comes from the French word ``ARC-EN-CIEL'' (rainbow), replacing ``sky CIEL'' with ``grape VIGNE'', symbolizing ``an arch where grapes connect people''. More than 20 new farmers are working on growing wine grapes in Tomi City, and the number of people wishing to enter the field will continue to increase, but the scale of the local wineries is making it difficult to meet all the demand for contract winemaking. In recent years, "Japanese wine" made from 100% domestically produced grapes has been attracting attention, and European grapes from Nagano are especially popular. In response to this situation, the Alcanvigne winery will work with local farmers to prevent the flow of grapes and will also produce and sell cider and sparkling wine. We also have the Chikuma River Wine Academy, which provides cultivation, brewing techniques, and management information to help new farmers become independent.
