Maruki Winery was founded in 1896 as Japan's oldest winery, and boasts a history of over 140 years. The founder, Ryunori Tsuchiya, was the first Japanese to study abroad in France, where he learned wine-making techniques and cultivation methods. After returning to Japan, he searched for wine that would go well with Japanese food, using Koshu grapes, which are endemic to Japan. This tradition continues to this day, and we use grapes carefully cultivated in our own fields across the country as raw materials, and incorporate methods such as ``no-till grass cultivation'' and ``reduced pesticides'' that are considerate of the natural environment. At our own farm, we have expanded to fields in Katsunuma, Yamanashi Prefecture, Furano, Hokkaido, and Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture, and cultivate a variety of grape varieties such as Koshu, Muscat Bailey A, and Chardonnay. By maximizing the individuality of the grapes and fermenting them in separate tanks, we create wine that reflects the local climate and climate. We also offer a wide range of wines, from everyday wines that go well with the dinner table to special premium wines, and have received high praise both domestically and internationally. Maruki Winery aims to further develop Japan's wine culture through winemaking that combines history and innovation.
