Matsu no Izumi Sake Brewery is a shochu brewery located deep in the Kyushu Mountains, in the rich nature of the Kuma Basin, benefiting from the Kuma River, one of Japan's three major rapids. The shochu is made using groundwater that has the same source as the famous waters ``Tanizu Yakushi no Meisui'' and ``Gekkosui,'' which have passed through the granite of Mt. Shirakami over many years. This area is known as ``Hori no Kaku'' and is known for its high-quality well water, and its origins date back to the first generation, Mr. Bunsuke Matsuoka, who was fascinated by the water and began making shochu. Mr. Matsuoka's shochu gained a reputation as ``Matsuoka's shochu'' and was later named ``Matsu no Izumi'' after ``pine'' and ``izumi.'' Even today, ``Matsu no Izumi'' continues to be loved as a local evening drink shochu. Matsu no Izumi Sake Brewery has inherited the Kuma shochu culture, which boasts a history of over 500 years, and values the culture built by our predecessors while preserving the traditional manufacturing method of "rice, water, people, and storehouses." We will continue to work hard to deliver delicious shochu.
