Kozuma Sake Brewery is a sake brewery located in Minamitane-cho, the southern tip of Tanegashima, Kagoshima Prefecture. This area has a long history of the introduction of firearms, and today it is home to the Tanegashima Space Center and is known as ``the town closest to space in Japan,'' making it a special place where history and the future coexist. The shochu "Nansen" from the same brewery is grown in a rich natural setting overlooking Yakushima to the west and surrounded by the cobalt blue sea. Since its founding in 1926 by the first generation Mr. Naoshi Kozuma, Kozuma Sake Brewery has been producing shochu with roots in the local community for over 90 years. Sweet potatoes, which grow vigorously under Tanegashima's strong sunlight, are grown with great care by contracted farmers, and shochu that takes advantage of these ingredients is produced using traditional methods. Although we are a small brewery, we continue to create Tanegashima shochu that is loved throughout the ages while valuing our deep ties with the islanders.
