Ibusuki Sake Brewery is a shochu brewery established as a collaboration between five long-established breweries founded in the Meiji era. In order to improve quality and diversify our products, in 2008 we changed from a cooperative association to a joint stock company and set up a factory at the former Otani Kanayama site on the shores of Lake Ikeda in Ibusuki City. This region has an ideal environment with abundant water resources and high-quality raw materials, making it the perfect location for shochu production. Our representative brand, authentic potato shochu ``Riemon,'' is named after Riemon Maeda, who is also known as the god of sweet potatoes, and is well-known as a high-quality shochu made using traditional techniques. While visitors have the opportunity to see the fermentation tanks and manufacturing process up close, they are required to be careful about meals beforehand to prevent contamination with bacteria. Ibusuki Sake Brewery is working to further evolve Satsuma shochu and create products that meet diverse needs by fusing historical technology with modern equipment.
