Tamura is a brewery that was founded in 1897 (Meiji 30) and continues to make traditional shochu. The company continues to adhere to the primary manufacturing method using Japanese jars, which has been passed down since its founding. With over 100 years of history, Japanese vats are a symbol of Tamura's shochu production and embody quality and tradition. The company is located at the southeastern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, near Yamakawa Port. Located a 2-minute walk from JR Yamakawa Station, it has good access, approximately 2 hours by car from Kagoshima Airport, and approximately 80 minutes by car or train from Kagoshima City. The ocean that spreads out in front of our eyes and the warm climate are the perfect environment for cultivating the flavor of Satsuma shochu. Tamura aims to spread Satsuma's ``Dareyame culture'' (a culture of enjoying shochu) and conveys the appeal of sweet potato shochu. Along with the tradition of Satsuma sweet potatoes, the company has continued to make shochu with a focus on sweet potato shochu since 1891, and is supported by many shochu lovers.
