Founded in the Genroku era, Katsuyama Sake Brewery has been brewing Sendai's famous sake "Katsuyama" and boasts a history and tradition spanning over 320 years. There is a theory that the brand name ``Katsuyama'' comes from the auspicious symbol of ``catching winning stars like a mountain,'' or from the ``Katsuyamamage,'' a topknot that was popular at the time. During the Meiji period, the seventh generation Mr. Heizo experimented with the first quick brewing method in Tohoku, and began shipping the sake from Miyagi to Tokyo, establishing it as a famous Sendai sake. After the war, the famous master brewer, Mr. Engoro Terui, achieved excellent results at the National Certification Association, and in 1961 he released ``Kenkatsuyama'', which catered to Western food culture, and in 1981, he released 100% Sasanishiki Junmai Sake. We proposed this to all breweries and contributed to improving the quality of sake in Miyagi. In this way, the brewery established itself as one of Sendai's leading sake breweries, winning numerous gold awards at the National Sake Awards.
