Heiwa Sake Brewery was founded by Tamotsu Yamamoto in 1938. This began when Mr. Yasushi Taniguchi of Taniguchi Sake Brewery, which has been in business since the Edo period, started a sake brewery out of his passion for sake brewing when he took over as head of the Yamamoto family. In addition, the name of the temple is ``Muryozan Choganji,'' so it is still sometimes called by the name ``Choganji.'' During and after the war, the company faced repeated risks of going out of business, but thanks to the passion of the second generation, Mr. Yasumasa Yamamoto, it was reopened and given the name ``Heiwa.'' Heiwa Sake Brewery is dedicated to producing sake that is unique to Wakayama, and as a result, has won the Gold Award at the National New Sake Awards.
